The Relationship Between History And Geography Education Essay

The Relationship Between History And Geography Education Essay While topography and history are two discrete subjects inside the National Curriculum (1999), Martin (2002) accepts that it is conceivable to distinguish zones of closeness between them from taking a gander at the significance of history and geology explanations. Additionally, she calls attention to that there are joins among history and geology through the information and getting, aptitudes, ideas and qualities and mentalities and along these lines it is conceivable to consolidate cross-curricular connections when showing the subjects. In any case, before these connections are investigated it is critical to give a diagram of the two subjects in their own right. Cooper et al (2006) express that topography is crucial to childrens comprehension of the world they live in. They feature that geology permits kids to examine individuals and build up a feeling of spot. Moreover, they call attention to that topography encourages childrens valuation for nature and causes them to comprehend why maintainability is significant. So also, Catling and Willy (2009) propose that essential geology permits kids to build up an oddity about the world through investigating individuals and the earth. In the Importance of Geography articulation the Department for Education and Employment (DfEE) (1999) underline that geology permits kids to scrutinize the common and human impacts inside the world and the announcement draws upon the significance of utilizing enquiry aptitudes. The significance of topography as an enquiry subject is clear in the association of the geology National Curriculum. The National Curriculum (1999) for topography is separated into two segments; the information, abilities and understanding and the broadness of study. The information, aptitudes and understanding youngsters secure fall into four viewpoints: geological enquiry and abilities, information and comprehension of spots, examples and forms and natural change and manageable turn of events. The expansiveness of study determines the areas through which kids are shown the four viewpoints The National Curriculum (1999) for history consolidates two zones, information, aptitudes and comprehension and broadness of study. The information, abilities and comprehension recognize the key ideas including ordered understanding, recorded translation and enquiry. O Hara and O Hara (2001) contend that history is a significant subject since history isn't just about what occurred before. They express its concerning why we are what our identity is and about whats next (p.9) and in this way history adds to childrens social and social turn of events. Besides, Cooper (2006) accentuates the estimation of history inside the educational plan. She recommends that history is an enquiry based subject that permits kids to build up a comprehension of the past through deciphering proof from sources. The aptitude of enquiry is clear in the significance of history proclamation where the DfEE (1999) call attention to that history ought to urge youngsters to weigh up proof to arrive at resolutions. Rowley and Cooper (2009) feature the advantages of cross-curricular instructing and coordination of subjects. They contend that discovering joins among history and geology makes learning applicable to youngsters and offers an invigorating method to learn across between associated themes. They accept that intersection subject limits urges youngsters to improve their enquiry abilities and show activity. Besides, Barnes (2007) advocates that educators can make educational program desires important for kids through cross-curricular arranging. He contends that when subjects are incorporated kids can apply the information, comprehension and aptitudes they gain in one subject to another. Correspondingly, the Independent Review of the Primary educational plan completed by Rose (2009) advocates the significance of cross-curricular instructing to improve childrens learning. The survey expresses that subjects ought to be transformed into regions of learning with geology and history going under the zone of verifiable, land and social comprehension. Kimber et al (1995) contend that topography and history ought to permit kids to create inspirational mentalities and estimations of the world they live in. Martin (2002) expands upon this contending the two subjects envelop normal mentalities and qualities. She accepts that these mentalities and qualities permit kids to consider their privileges and duties in their prompt condition and the world, while building up a consciousness of elective perspectives. In addition, she calls attention to that through examining topography and history kids build up a regard of various ways of life and societies both previously and at present. Martin (2002) states that the information and comprehension of history and geology can be connected in light of the fact that the two subjects center around individuals in better places, at various occasions. This is bolstered by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (2000) who found that the information and understanding gained in geology can be utilized ever. While on school experience I had the option to utilize the subject of antiquated Egypt to create childrens information and comprehension in both history and geology. Albeit old Egypt is a choice under the world history concentrate in the history National Curriculum (1999), I coordinated land components by taking a gander at the River Nile. This is on the grounds that the River Nile has a profoundly geological concentration inside a chronicled setting. This empowered the kids to think about the associations between streams, cultivating and industry while taking a gander at the essentialness of the River Nile in giving foo d and exchange to Egyptians. On this event the land understanding about waterways helped kids to comprehend Egyptian history. Hoodless (2009) contends that there is a comparability between the abilities kids are relied upon to obtain in history and topography. This is additionally underlined by Catling (2006) who calls attention to that the two subjects fuse enquiry aptitudes where youngsters have the chance to pose inquiries, watch, record data and decipher proof. These enquiry abilities are reflected in the National Curriculum (1999) for history (chronicled enquiry 4.a, 4.b) and for topography (geological enquiry and aptitudes 1.a-1.e). Fraser and Donert (1996) and Hoodless (2009) contend that single direction enquiry aptitudes can be created in the subjects is through analyzing a neighborhood an authentic and topographical point of view. In addition, Foley and Kanikoun (1996) propose that a beginning stage for a neighborhood study is to present key inquiries that kids will discover the response to. These enquiry questions incorporate how is the spot? (p.11) which exhibits a land center for the enquiry and how was the spot previously? (p.11) which underlines the authentic concentration for the enquiry. Catling (2006) contends that with the end goal for kids to improve their insight into what a neighborhood as of now like and what it resembled before, they should gather proof through field work, photos and maps. He features that through an enquiry youngsters will have thoughts regarding why a territory creates and how it has come to be as is it (p.14). Despite the fact that I have not had the chance to utilize a neig hborhood concentrate in school, the humanities neighborhood venture gave me a top to bottom comprehension of how to design a unit of work where kids can perceive how the past has affected on a current territory. Through investigating a scope of essential and auxiliary sources and doing handle work inside my own enquiry I took a gander at the region from a geological and verifiable viewpoint. Turner-Bisset (2005) recommends that a decent method to participate in a neighborhood is by utilizing recorded maps. This thought is clear in an example cross-curricular history and geology neighborhood by Hoodless (2009). He recommends authentic maps can be utilized to discover what the territory resembled at a specific time previously. This exercise fuses the geological aptitude of deciphering maps (topographical enquiry and abilities 2.c) just as the chronicled expertise of deciphering sources (authentic translation 3 and verifiable enquiry 4.b) and along these lines the connection between abilities in the two subjects is obvious. Be that as it may, maps don't just give a connection among recorded and geological aptitudes, Disney and Hammond (2002) contend that maps can feature joins between the ideas in the two subjects. While considering the difference in a neighborhood recommend that instructors should utilize new and authentic maps which represent likenesses and contrasts in a neighborhood. For instance they clarify that a guide which shows a zone before the presentation of the railroad and a guide that shows the zone after the presentation of the rail line underpins childrens advancement of the idea of progress. They contend this is on the grounds that youngsters can see with their own eyes the noteworthy changes that have happened in the zone. On school experience I had the option to build up the childrens idea of progress inside a cross-curricular geology and history exercise. Be that as it may, rather than maps I utilized a scope of photos of the city of London from Victorian Britain until today. This empowered the kids to utilize their translation aptitudes to choose how London has changed and how it is as yet evolving. Martin (2002) further features that history and geology can be connected through the ideas of each subject. She brings up that there are covers through the key ideas of progress, order and likeness and distinction. It is obvious in the National Curriculum (1999) that the idea of progress shows up in both topography and history. In the National Curriculum (1999) for topography kids are required to perceive how and why spots change (information and comprehension of spots 3.e) and in history kids consider changes inside and across various periods examined (information and getting occasions, individuals and changes in the past 2.d). Be that as it may, while the over bend

The Darkness Found Him Out - Literature Essay Samples

THE DARKNESS FOUND HIM OUTConrads Heart of Darkness in a New LightVituperative, unwavering, and fiercely intent on drawing conclusions, Chinua Achebe asks in reference to Conrads Heart of Darkness: the question is whether a novel which celebrates this dehumanization, which depersonalizes a portion of the human race, can be called a great work of art (257). His answer, seething with disdain for a work he essentially considers inhumane: No, it cannot (257). Indeed, this dehumanization of the African race is a crucial element of Achebes criticism; specific references to the language and inherent attitudes driving this idea prompt Achebe to label Conrad a thoroughgoing racist (257). Yet, as one-dimensional as his argument might be, Achebes passionate condemnation also remains intensely difficult to contest not only because he often assails what he should defend, but because he also virtually disqualifies whites on racial grounds from judging the text. However, if we use Achebes dehu manization claim as a starting point and subsequently examine his larger use of textual support, his assumption-based logic ultimately dissolves into contradiction. Moreover, by analyzing Conrads narrative technique, his use of African characters, and his stylistic devices, we find that Heart of Darkness actually criticizes racial prejudice rather than upholds it. Indeed, Achebe errs by alleging that Conrad endorses imperialist philosophy namely, the idea that Africa provided the primitive basis from which European culture has evolved. Instead, Heart of Darkness undermines this frame of reference and offers a more subversive truth: the dynamic reality of Africa has been corrupted and concealed by European civilization. Achebe believes that Heart of Darkness bases its narrative in ethnocentrism, portraying Africa as empty space devoid of culture and history. He adds a number of corollaries to this primary argument, effectively masking any immediate gaps in logic. First, Achebe claims that the cordon sanitaire between Marlow and Conrad is essentially non-existent. Since the author does not provide us with an alternative frame of reference to judge the actions and opinions of the characters, the narrative cannot be held up to irony and criticism (256). Yet, Achebes final comment It would not have been beyond Conrads power to make that provision if he had thought it necessary ironically supports the counterargument (256). Conrad does not provide the reader with an alternative frame of reference not because Marlow has his complete confidence, but instead because the novel forces the reader to visualize and interpret a more intuitive reality (256). Indeed, the intentionally ironic distance between Conrad and Marlow and the enduring discrepancies between appearance and reality highlight the indeterminacy of Heart of Darkness and elicit reader involvement. Achebe dismisses the possibility of ironic distance between Conrad and Marlow since Conrad sets up art ificial layers of insulation between himself and the moral universe of his history and fails to offer a more credible and objective viewpoint (256). And yet, the organization of Heart of Darkness involves a much more subtle subversion of narrative clich. The opening, for instance, involves a clear interruption of Conrads perspective:The sun set; the dusk fell on the stream and lights began to appear along the shore. The Chapman lighthouse, a three-legged thing erect on a mud-flat, shone strongly. Lights of ships moved in the fairway a great stir of lights going up and going down. And farther west on the upper reaches the place of the monstrous town was still marked ominously on the sky, a brooding gloom in sunshine, a lurid glare under the stars. And this also, said Marlow suddenly, has been one of the dark places of the earth. (9)Conrads authoritative voice, based in historical description offers nebulous imagery that remains unresolved in the readers imagination (gloom in su nshine and lurid starlight, for instance, are aesthetically rich but seemingly incomprehensible images.) Marlows sudden interruption, however, redirects the narrative, placing these descriptions in the new and more compelling context of life experience. Conrad also creates ironic distance between himself and Marlow by employing satiric exaggeration. Achebe Correctly cites this passage as an example of dehumanizing the Africans:And between whiles I had to look after the savage who was fireman. He was an improved specimen; he could fire up a vertical boiler. He was there below me and, upon my word, to look at him was as edifying as seeing a dog in a parody of breeches and a feather hat walking on his hind legs. (38)Yet, he neglects the tremendous irony of Marlows narration; Conrad is implicitly undermining white cultural norms with this description of unnaturally harnessed African energy. Achebe, meanwhile, laments that Conrads romanticism subverts black culture by endorsing Euro pean ideals (256). But, both Conrad and Achebe condemn exploitative dehumanization and the definitions and forms of this dehumanization are virtually equivalent. Moreover, a distinct discrepancy between appearance and reality crystallizes the cordon sanitaire between Marlow and Conrad. Achebe discounts the possibility of such a separation between Marlows and Conrads reality instead, Marlow is our witness of truth and Conrad our purveyor of comforting myths (253, 256). He cites a passage from the opening of the novel as evidence:They howled and leaped and spun and made horrid faces, but what thrilled you was just the thought of their humanity like yours the thought of your remote kinship with this wild and passionate uproar. Ugly. Yet, it was ugly enough, but if you were man enough you would admit to yourself that there was in you just the faintest trace of a response to the terrible frankness of that noise, a dim suspicion of there being in it which you you so remote from t he night of first ages could comprehend. (38)Achebe equates Marlows observations here with the meaning of Heart of Darkness and the fascination it holds over the Western mind (254). Yet, even though Marlows description might appear unjustly patronizing in isolation, the larger context of the passage suggests that Marlows perspective is simply one of Conrads ironic tools. Indeed, Marlows description in isolation might appear limited and unjustly patronizing, but his attitude is perfectly understandable in a larger context. Marlow, as a purveyor of imperialist bias, obviously sees African behavior as primordial, grotesque, and virtually meaningless; in order to maintain his noble ideals, he must believe that Europeans have evolved beyond the Africans. But although Achebe might be correct in labeling Marlow a racist (though this racism clearly appears rational in terms of historical realism), he wrongly extends this generalization to include Conrad. Placing the above passage into the context of Conrads larger meaning, the reader immediately notices Marlows gradual questioning of this perspective. Increasingly noticing the interactions of white men with the natives, Marlow gradually begins to doubt imperialistic purpose:A horn tooted to the right and I saw the black people run. A heavy and dull detonation shook the ground, a puff of smoke came out of the cliff, and that was all. No change appeared on the face of the rock. They were building a railway. The cliff was not in the way of anything, but this objectless blasting was all the work going on. (19)Marlow might not comment on the obvious absurdities he witness (the vast pit whose purpose he cannot divine, the black man who attempts to use a pail with a hole in its bottom), but Conrads irony is remarkably lucid. Because the images, descriptions, and metaphors are so indeterminate, Conrad compels the reader to make extrapolations between appearance and reality. Indeed, this reality allows the reader to see what Marlow himself might not recognize: What a row the brute makes! said the indefatigable man with the moustaches appearing near us. Serve him right. Transgression punishment bang! Pitiless, pitiless. Thats the only way' (28). By identifying the discrepancy between Marlows perception of this assistants philosophy and Conrads intended meaning, the reader resolves a key indeterminacy of the text. Ultimately, this resolution leads to a clear reconciliation between Conrads and Achebes larger ideology namely that civilization does not correct or eliminate savagery, but instead provokes even more savage brutality. The second corollary Achebe adds to his criticism involves a narrowing of the definition of dehumanization to specifically attack Conrads narrative form. Though Achebe believes Conrads entire work to be racist and inhumane, he particularly denounces the use of Africa as setting and backdrop which eliminates the African as human factor (257). To support his clai m of collective African depersonalization, Achebe cites a nice little vignette as an example of things in their place:Now and then a boat from the shore gave one a momentary contact with reality. It was paddled by black fellows. You could see from afar the white of their eyeballs glistening. They shouted, sang; their bodies streamed with perspiration; they had faces like grotesque masks these chaps; but they had bone, muscle, a wild vitality, an intense energy of movement that was as natural and true as the surf along their coast. They wanted no excuse for being there. They were a great comfort to look. (17, 254).Achebe eschews analysis, implying that this description obviously exemplifies Conrads condescending tone. Yet, the passage clearly protests against the dehumanization which Conrad supposedly champions. Indeed, Conrad explicitly identifies the Africans as purveyors of truth and reality a rare and clearly significant example of determinate language (17). In direct contrast to the Europeans, the natives are symbols of unfettered vitality; living without pretense, they wanted no excuse for being there (17). Furthermore, Conrad uses the passages language to convey the dynamic energy of the African people; the description suddenly gains momentum with the use of semi-colons, trying to capture their wild vigor. Interestingly, Marlows description seems to coalesce with Conrads voice for the first time in the novel; the Africans intense, natural, and true present reality in its purest, most comfortable form (17). Achebes second example of Conrads collective dehumanization of the natives points to the rare instance when Conrad departs somewhat from his practice and confers speech, even English speech, on the savages (225). He offers the following exchange as an example: Catch im, he snapped with a bloodshot widening of his eyes and a flash of sharp teeth catch im. Give im to us. To you, eh? I asked; what would you do with them? Eat im!he said curtly(42). Achebe believes this conferral of speech on the Africans a clear deviation from their characteristic silence; such a departure, he claims, bases itself in the sensational advantages of securing [the Africans] convictions by clear unambiguous evidence issuing out of their own mouth (225). Yet, Achebe once again ignores the larger context of this episode. Conrad intends this fiery explosion of speech to be ironic soon after, Marlow realizes the incredible control exercised by these cannibals: Restraint! What possible restraint? Was it superstition, disgust, patience, fear or some kind of primitive honour? No fear can exist where hunger is, and as to superstition, beliefs, and what you may call principles, they are less than chaff in a breeze (43). Furthermore, Conrad implicitly compares the restraint of the Africans to Kurtz lack of restraint: I want you clearly to understand that there was nothing exactly profitable in these heads being there. They only show th at Mr. Kurtz lacked restraint in the gratification of his various lusts, that there was something wanting in him (57). Indeed, Achebes simplistic labeling of the collective African portrayal as depersonalized ignores the larger context, irony, and themes of Heart of Darkness. In his depiction of characters, Conrad intends for a clear discrepancy to exist between appearance and reality; European ideals are represented in the civilized veneer of appearance while African culture, natural and dynamic, represents true reality (17).In addition to criticizing the collective portrayal of Africans, Achebe objects to Conrads similarly inhumane portrayals of individual natives. He focuses his attention on the incongruity between Marlows description of Kurtz African mistress and his later portrait of Kurtz Intended. While the former is savage and superb, wild and magnificent and resembles the wilderness itself, the Intended first appears in black with a pale head, floating toward Marlow (6 0, 72). Achebe argues that the detailed description of the African mistress serves only to illustrate that she is in her place and so can win Conrads special brand of approval and second, she fulfills a structural requirement of the story: a savage counterpart to the refined, European woman who will step forth to end the story (225). Yet, Achebe again ignores the vital context of this passage. While the Intended is frail and weak, the African mistress is proud, wild, gorgeous, magnificent and most importantly, passionately fierce (60). Even beyond these physical epithets, the African savage dips into the same emotional palette as the European woman. The former, however, communicates her mourning through solitary rites involving nature rather than conversational discourse; in a sense, Conrad implies the inefficacy of language to convey the deepest of human emotions. Yet, his larger purpose does not involve the labeling of one woman as superior. Instead, he underscores their si milarity at one point, both women stretch their arms into the air, seeking Kurtz manifested soul (60, 75). Isolated and defenseless, each has suffered overwhelming tragic loss. Furthermore, Achebe also ignores Conrads selective use of individual Africans as potent symbols. One particularly significant example of this occurs when Marlow first reaches the Outer Station:The man seemed young almost a boy but you know with them its hard to tell.. He had tied a bit of white worsted round his neck Why? Where did he get it. Was it a badge an ornament a charm a propitiatory act? Was there any idea at all connected with it. (20)Here, Conrad uses the indeterminate, seemingly ageless African as clear symbolic entity; the white worsted provides a stark contrast to the boys dying black body. Indeed, Conrad implies that though the boys skin might be black a color the Europeans associate with savagery and evil his soul radiates white innocence. Ironic distance appears once again betw een Marlow and Conrad since the reader must take the formers questioning observations and link it to the latters larger meaning and reality. At one point, Achebe grants that Conrad is undoubtedly one of the great stylists of modern fiction and a good story-teller into the bargain (250). Thus, he draws an important distinction between ethics and stylistic aesthetics, facilitating his final condemnation of the novel as a false masterpiece. Yet, this casual endorsement of Conrads stylistic powers contradicts Achebes most fundamental arguments. Indeed, he mentions Conrads admirable aesthetic device a second time: Heart of Darkness has its memorably good passages and momentsIts exploration of the minds of the European characters is often penetrating and full of insight (258). How can Achebe condemn Conrad as a human being and yet reserve admiration and respect for his art? If Conrad is indeed so intimately involved in the voice of Heart of Darkness, how can a gap suddenly exist betw een the aesthetic and thematic aspects of his writing? The reality, of course, is that the art cannot stand on its own; Conrad infuses his African characters with just as much conscious understanding as his European figures. Achebes argument thus resonates with problematic tension the same language that he finds offensive and racist later impresses him as penetrating and insightful (258).Moreover, his reasoning also lapses into inextricable contradiction when he labels the following passage an example of liberal-minded irony a type of irony he previously claimed did not exist in Heart of Dearkness:They were dying slowly it was clear. They were not enemies, they were not criminals, they were nothing earthly now, nothing but black shadows of disease and starvation lying confusedly in the greenish gloom. Brought from all the recesses of the coast in all the legality of time contracts, lost in uncongenial surroundings, fed on unfamiliar food, they sickened, become inefficient, a nd were then allowed to crawl away and rest. (256)In a clear example of what Achebe should recognize as Conrads ironic insight, he instead sees patronizing liberalism. This passage, however, is clearly an example of what Achebe should endorse; he casually scoffs at liberal-mindedness, not realizing that the motivations driving these bleeding-heart sentiments are the same ones that condemn racial prejudice (256). In artificially disassociating Conrads ethics from his art, Achebe makes his gravest of errors he applauds Conrads stylistic device and yet completely dismisses the most subtle and significant dimensions of this style. In a sense, Achebe is so intent on drawing one-dimensional conclusions that he hastily declares ideological war on Conrad when they both clearly belong to the same camp. The entire breadth of his argument depends on an extremely problematic transitive chain: Marlow is a racist, Conrad and Marlow speak through the same voice, thus Conrad himself is a thoro ughgoing racist (257). Although he rationalizes this reasoning with a number of corollaries, the argument clearly collapses in the second of these links. Employing his entire stylistic arsenal, Conrad weaves a consistently indeterminate narrative, obliging the reader to construct rather than absorb reality. In a last desperate effort to contest this possibility, Achebe insists, Conrad saw and condemned the evil of imperial exploitation but was strangely unaware of the racism on which it sharpened its iron tooth (262). The word strange, of course, is fascinating especially since what Achebe claims is impossible. Conrad could not succeed in commenting on imperial perspectives without an implicit criticism of racism; moreover, this implicit criticism eventually becomes explicit he leaves no doubt that the Africans are the true purveyors of truth and reality (17). Achebe might try to divide the artistic and thematic spheres; on one level, he blasts the author and the writing i tself as deplorable and offensive, and yet, on another, praises the artistry that stands on its own (259). Such a separation is not only completely artificial and ingenuous, but also one that dissolves into a contradictory muddle. Instead, one must recognize that the artistic and thematic spheres coalesce to form a work that intentionally remains obscure. The reader, rather than Conrad himself, is the final purveyor of reality. And in this reality, dark indeterminacy must eventually give way to light the profound, rewarding glow of enlightenment. The Common Raccoon ( P. Lotor - 1230 Words

The common raccoon (P. lotor) has been said to be one of the most widespread urban mammalian carnivores. Characterised by its fox-like face, bushy striped tail, and unmistakable â€Å"mask† of dark patches around their eyes, the growing population of urban raccoons has become somewhat of an epidemic. These small creatures are known for their relatively high intellect, enabling them to access human resources. Raccoons are omnivores, and have been consistently observed to eat virtually anything. Additionally, even though raccoons are technically both primary consumers and secondary consumers, they are best described as being scavengers. Raccoons have very little social structure relatively; they are known as solitary animals, most likely stemming from their nocturnal behaviors. Quite often, they will be found traveling as either a family (until the young reach adolescence, at which time they leave), or an individual. They are notorious carriers of disease, can outcompete native species, and can be quite aggressive when confronted by humans. For these reasons and more, the urban raccoon is considered a pest, and in many areas there have been countless efforts to control their populations (Gehrt, S. D., et. al., 2010, Pg. 35-47). This paper will propose actions that would need to be taken in order to deter raccoons from pursuing human waste as a food source in the effort of controlling their population. Human Sexuality and Masturbation Good Morning - 1537 Words

From the Prehistoric Era to Modern Times: A Historical Perspective on Masturbation Good morning. Im here to talk about a sensitive topic, an issue that is present since the beginning of mankind but is only being widely accepted today. Before anything else, I will show you some pictures. Can anyone please tell me what these ancient images depict? Are they cooking? Are they worshiping their gods? Youre correct. They are masturbating! Ancient people express their emotions and everything they see in drawings. These drawings serve as a mirror that reflects their early society and these images show us that masturbation had been practiced since the dawn of mankind. Most early people seem to have connected human sexuality with abundance in†¦show more content†¦It is not uncommon however to begin much earlier, and this is more frequent among females: 18% had begun by the time they turned 10, and 6% already by the time they turned 6. Being the main outlet of child sexuality, masturbation has been observed in very young children. In the book Human Sexuality: Div ersity in Contemporary America, by Strong, Devault and Sayad, the authors point out, A baby boy may laugh in his crib while playing with his erect penis. Baby girls sometimes move their bodies rhythmically, almost violently, appearing to experience orgasm. The frequency of masturbation declines after the age of 17. However, most males masturbate daily or even more frequently well into their 20s and sometimes far beyond. This decline is more drastic among females, and more gradual among males. While females aged 13Ââ€"17 masturbated almost once a day on average, adult women only masturbated 8Ââ€"9 times a month, compared to the 18Ââ€"22 among men. It is also apparent that masturbation frequency declines with age. Adolescent youths report being able to masturbate to ejaculation six or more times per day, while men in middle age report being hard pressed to ejaculate even once per day. Both sexes occasionally engage in this activity, however, even when in sexually active relationships. In general it is believed that individuals of either sex who are not in sexually active relationships tend to masturbate more frequently than those who are;Show MoreRelatedBanning Books : A Severe Prescription Mix Up1208 Words   |  5 PagesChris Wong Ms. Sommer Advanced English 9 08 September 2014 Banning Books: A Severe Prescription Mix-Up A thought that could make many Americans sick is the thought of losing the basic human rights outlined in the Bill of Rights. Reflection Learning is the most ongoing activities which could be availed at any point of life regardless of place, time or situation. The experiences and learning collected through different situations in surrounding helps in developing own skills and knowledge to the great extent. Blog writing had made me jot down the points which have been learned by me in various sessions specifically. The learning collected out of the Answer the question blog had made me think over the scope of answering the question during a presentation. I came across an interesting fact about 3Fs i.e. friends, family and fools. These 3Fs are meant to invest on our business ideas and turn them into reality. The funds required to commence with a new idea are been provided by these three major part of our life. I had learned new ways of approaching these investors which could lead towards the collection of capital for the business and make our plans real (Gharehchopogh Khaze, 2013). Answering the questions raised during t he presentation also increases our presence of mind which helps in responding towards the information quickly. Design IT is basically a field of problem identification and solutions to the entrepreneurship. Design thinking is the innovative and creative manner of identifying any problem and solving the same effectively. With the initiation of the blog writing and the session I came across immense numbers of facts about design thinking and its concepts related to the entrepreneurship. There are various design thinking tools which I have learned such as value chain analysis, brainstorming, journey mapping, prototype, etc. These tools have contributed highly in making my mind for a business idea and thinking over the idea with innovation and creativity. The next blog Value chain analysis helped me gain enhanced understanding and knowledge about the facts of value chain and its related activities. I had learned that value chain analysis is mainly a tool being used to analyze internal firm activities. Writing the blog made me learn various new concepts about value chain in manufacturing industry. It revealed the functionalities being included in the chain to reach the end product. The learning helped me develop my own conceptual and understanding about the facts of value chain in the industry. I explored that the value chain analysis is been applied into infrastructure, human resource management, technology, procurements, etc. and provides with various services effectively (See blog entry 2, 22nd September, 2017). I developed my knowledge upon the concept over design IT which would help me in my business or job specifically. The term Design thinking has evolved as a new word to me and had created immense confusion as well but with the collection of information and facts about the same made me learn new concept effectively. I even learnt to manage the activities and conduct the analysis at workplace which could be used in my future terms effectively (Gereffi Fernandez-Stark, 2016). Learning makes an individual more confident and knowledgeable upon specific topic which could be discussed with anyone. The facts that I have learnt out of the blog could be used by me in any field or situation for my future. Journey mapping blog made me think over the new ways of jotting down the information about the planning of any business initiation. I explored that the commencement of any business requires having proper planning and map to walk on. The journey mapping of a Kebab shop made me realise the planning requirements and activities needed to attain the desired objective of any business. I developed my learning skills and knowledge regarding the plan of the business. The blog helped me learn about the aspects such as purpose of the business, time, demographic aspect, media, etc. Opening a Kebab shop also needs to focus these aspects so that to establish the business and achieve the desired outcomes (Liedtka, 2014). I experienced that having a journey mapping would make the business activities more clear and easy to be carried out. For instance, what to be targeted, how to be targeted, what to be offered, time, offering, etc. helps in carrying out a business effectively. The next blog was Prototype, writing a blog had helped me in collecting immense data and information related to any topic and explore my knowledge specifically. I had learnt many of the facts and information about different topics which made me use the same in my personal or professional lives. Here, I came across the information about a mobile application to resolve the issues of spoiler. Spoiler itself is a mobile application and is been used to solve issues in any content. Prototype is basically a blueprint of any specific project or model developed to carry out any of the activity. I had experienced that designing a prototype is critical task but one could have perfect picture to execute idea and explain in detail with strong benefits of the app. The prototype of the application had made us learn about the actual process it would take and the action to be made by the same. Design IT, it is the most extraordinary subject I explored out of the various topics. This topic is found to be challenging to take risk like blog writing and thinking beyond your routine lifestyle. It is very difficult to explore any uncommon topic and collect information about it. I believe that finding out new ideas and topic help us to do something innovative and creative in the fields of blog writing. I experienced a new concepts and idea of thinking out of box and making creative activities out of it (See blog entry 5, 14th September, 2017). The design IT or thinking helped me see the activities prevailing in the surrounding from different viewpoints and avail the ideas behind the creativity. It largely helped me in understanding the advertisements, meaning of the tag lines, logo of the organisations as it allow to think out of box specifically (Johansson?Skldberg.et.al, 2013). I even explored that thinking beyond the innovation or creativity provides you with a different image and viewpoint. This proves to be highly profitable in the business activities as well as the personal situations. The blog written on 3D ctrl+P ing is mainly about the 3d printing technology which is been considered as the latest technology in the modern era. I had found that 3D printing technology in now a day playing important roles in developing the things in some creative manner so that to make any prototype of the component. The creative and innovative 3D prototype helps in describing the products in an attractive approach and would be able to explore the same effectively. I came across the new ways of approaching the customers and making them aware about the products in more clear and specific manner. I learnt that in present competitive era, it is very important to be attractive and interesting. It requires to catch the attention of people so that to make them purchase the product and add the profitability factor. This approach could be used in any manner to either sell products or the brand among the people. In my next class, I discovered new topic i.e. 4Ps which means price, place, promotion and product. The 4Ps of marketing define the values of products and services to be introduced in the market by the organisation. With this my learning had been enhanced with more new concepts of marketing and carrying out a business. The blog writing highly benefited me in carrying my own business activities and implements the same effectively. I came across information about the elements of marketing and its benefits which made me learn how to conduct marketing activities. Design thinking had helped me look over the business issues and find an innovative solution of the same. Bringing innovation and creativity in any of the product or services tends to attract more people and contributes in the success of the business eventually. It helped me think in new ways and moulded my ideas into creativity by making use of the concepts of design IT. Developing own interest and knowledge upon specific area of business also helps in bringing improvements in the real life activities. I explored that executing these 4 Ps help business in expanding its roots and acquiring greater number of customer segments towards it (Liedtka, 2015). The design thinking concept had made me learn new ways of marketing such as using visual elements, design as communication, etc. Earlier, I do not acquire much knowledge about the marketing activities and was having different misconceptions about the same. But with this blog, I learnt the actual facts and was able to relate the same to my business activities. I even developed my skills and knowledge of marketing which could be used in my future effectively. Elephant in the room, having heard about this phrase was just a term but with this blog I came to know the actual meaning of the phrase. The phrase Elephant in the room basically means to identify the specific problem behind any situation. The designers things about any situation in different manner and identifies the issues accordingly. This blog made me learn about the problem identification and implementing the solution over it. In the present technological era, we have observed immense new products that have been innovated for lazy people. The products such as electrical tooth brush or electric trimmer are some common examples of innovation which could lead to any issues as well (Levick-Parkin Hanson, 2015). I had learnt the concept of elephant in the room by thinking from a different point of view to encounter the issues and deliver the right information out of the same. Finding elephant in the room is the innovative way of doing something which is out of box or could be said n ext to impossible. The next blog includes discussion regarding the Brainstorming for prototype which is a problem related to a spoiler block. Here I came again with a new topic and concept which has not been heard by me earlier. This is another element of design It which helps in thinking in innovative and creative manner. It helps in evaluating ones own mind and extracting new ideas over business activities. I explored new idea and functionality of innovative application which is been used to eliminate the videos or updates about the daily serials. I discovered that the application blocks the flash updates and helps you avoid any of the particular video of posts you dont desires to watch. I had learnt new technological acts of making such application or conducting any activities with its helps. Brainstorming is basically the discussion about any issue and collecting different ideas towards a single solution (Krone, 2017). I even observed that having many technological options also includes more compli cations and issues rather than usefulness. The next session we discussed making poster design as how it should be and how to figure out the design. I explored the process of design thinking in more detailed manner and found that the thinking goes with empathise, define, ideate and prototype. I identified that thinking with the design point of view involves creative and innovative ideas which allows us to think over new faces. Out of the blog, I discovered that the information collected for the design thinking leads us towards new avenues and help in developing effective results out of it. I saw that design thinking had drafted the activities and had made people work differently regardless of any typical process. As per the design thinking, idea generated over any aspect includes focus over innovation and development of new different concepts specifically. Even, it has been experienced that considering the elements such as empathise, define, ideate and prototype would just not lead to effectiveness but also requires to be impl emented effectively. It is very important that proper execution of the activities is done. I collected immense data and information regarding the design thinking process and its application as well. Out of the activities, I came to know that design thinking could be applied to any kind of concepts of situations. It includes higher scope of improvements and could be carried out in any manner. Design thinking allows introducing new ideas and concepts over any products and makes the things possible. It has been even identified that many of the products such as gravity light or Google keep have been invented to make an addition into creativity and innovation of the thinking. It even displays a group performance where people make things happen, people watch things happen and people wonder things happen (Filatro.et.al, 2017). Design thinking had been emerged with an effective approach by providing people with new ways of thinking and doing something new by moving out of their typical structures. In my previous session I learnt that process of learning design thinking is different and innovative way. The designers design their ideas and prototype by drawing notes and place them handy which could be assessed again and rate further. I had experienced and learned that any activity could not be performed individually and requires having an effective team work. Working in group gives better idea generation and could encourage getting innovative ideas out of the mind. Group working largely benefits in acquiring better innovative options and carry out effective brainstorming for any of the issues particularly. The session also made me learn about hyper loopand solar cityconcepts along with the implementation of that idea (Manzini Coad, 2015). I explored immense varied facts about the innovative ideas which could be used in my future purposes. I could exchange the learning with my belongings to spread more knowledge among them. On overall basis, I have experienced and learnt immense number of ideas and knowledge regarding design thinking which could be used to develop my knowledge towards entrepreneurship specifically. Having learnt about design thinking and entrepreneurial activities, I realised that improvement is an ongoing act which is been carried out through the entire life. Learning could be availed from any aspects or activity and used for the better future. Developing skills and knowledge would make me more confident and positive towards the business activities to be carried out by me in future. I came across a fact that I myself need immense improvements in various areas which must be developed effectively. Action Plan For Development In order to enhance my capabilities and knowledge, it is very important to identify the core areas of improvements and bring specific development into it. With the help of my own evaluation, I found that I am still lacking in some areas which could hamper my potential in both professional and personal lives. It is been expected that the qualities could be improved in approximately 6 months having proper actions towards the lacking. Thus, below is the action plan developed to identify the area of qualities and making effective improvements into the same: Table 1: Action plan Qualities Lacking Action for Improvement Time period (months) Time management Distributing proper time among activities and managing the time. Following propertime management strategies and making proper time table for the accomplishment of the tasks 2 Creativity and Innovation Thinking with different perspectives to have innovative ideas (Parkay.et.al, 2014) Having brainstorming, mind mapping, etc. would help me evaluate the situation. It would improve this quality by observing people and relating the innovative facts with the same. 1 Leadership skills I sometime lack in leading people and boasting their morale Using effective leadership tactics and communicating with the staff would help me lead them effectively. 2 Decision making Accurate and Precise decision becomes difficult in some situation Participated in meetings and evaluating the facts to make proper decisions 1 Conclusion The above discussion concludes that learning is an ongoing activity which could be availed at any point of life regardless of place, time or situation. It has been seen that writing the blog makes learn various new concepts and understanding about diversified topics. It helps in finding out new ideas about any situation to do something innovative and creative in the fields of blog writing. It has been even explored that thinking beyond the innovation or creativity provides you with a different image and viewpoint towards a situation specifically.
